"Semi-auto pistol. Starting weapon. Always by your side." ― Description
The Beretta M9 is an Italian semi-automatic handgun. It is the player's starting weapon.
Players automatically spawn with it equipped in their first weapon slot when they first start the game or re-spawn at the start of each round.
It is a decent weapon for the early rounds, but even then it sometimes requires an entire magazine to kill a zombie.
Later in-game, the Beretta M9 takes too many hits to kill zombies efficiently and should be swapped out for a more powerful weapon.
When a player is downed without a suitable weapon, they will equip a Beretta M9 with an empty magazine and 16 rounds in reserve. Upon revival, the temporary Beretta M9 will disappear and the player will swap back to their normal weapon slots.
Pros & Cons[]
Pros:
- Lightweight with high movement speed.
- Fast reload speed.
- Good rate of fire.
- Great for farming points in early waves.
- Free.
Cons:
- Pitiful damage.
- Low starting ammo reserves.
- Visible recoil when spammed at long ranges.
- Quickly drops off in effectiveness and needs to be replaced.
Weapon Upgrade[]
When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the Beretta M9 becomes the Call of the Void.
With the Null Infusion Module, the upgraded weapon fires projectiles instead of traditional bullets and gains a two-round burst. The second projectile of each burst explodes on impact, dealing additional damage and slowing enemies by 75% for 2.5 seconds.
If the player hit by their own explosion, they will experience a fleeting slow of similar potency, depending on how close they were to the center of the blast.
In addition to the increased damage with the void projectiles and explosions, the Call of the Void also benefits from a higher larger magazine capacity and increased ammunition reserves. Projectiles that connect to the head also benefit from a higher headshot multiplier. However, the damage multiplier for torso and limb shots is slightly decreased.

Trivia[]
- The base weapon model of the Beretta M9 was built by the Roblox user manofthelol.
- The Beretta M9 starter weapon is a reference to Call of Robloxia: Zombies, logitech101's original zombie game, where the player also began with the M9.
- The same base model is used for the weapon and it features a similar reload animation.
- The Beretta M9 in-game can holds 8 rounds whereas its real-life counterpart uses 15-round magazines.
- The model in game may actually be a Beretta 92 Compact Type M given the 8-round magazine.
- The magazine capacity was reduced to make the game feel more like the original Call of Duty Zombies, in which the player started with an M1911 pistol with a magazine size of 8 rounds.
- The Beretta M9 and the knife in the game are the only weapons that are neither wall weapons nor a Mystery Box weapon.
- The Beretta M9 is the only weapon that does not come with maximum ammo reserves. It starts with 8+32 rounds and can only reach 8+80 bullets by acquiring Max Ammo.
- Oddly enough, the Beretta M9 deals less damage than a knife.
- The knife can one-hit kill on round 1, while the Beretta M9 is never able to kill in 1 bullet unless Insta-Kill is active.
- The upgraded Beretta M9, the Call of the Void, has a unique purple and black color scheme as opposed to the red and black of other upgraded weapons.
- The term "Call of the Void", or l'appel du vide in French, refers to a sudden feeling and urge to throw oneself into the void. This common phenomenon is distinct from suicide ideation.
- A common example is experiencing a sudden urge to jump when looking down from a high place.
- When the magazine of the Beretta M9 runs empty, the pistol slide is visibly locked back, similar to other handguns in the game.
