Utilities are mechanisms and machines that the player can interact with. Utilities can be found at fixed locations on the map. However, using utilities will often cost points.

Types of Utilities[]

Different utilities can be used to provide the player with benefits, such as acquiring new weapons or perks. Others allow the player to manipulate the map and the playable area.

  • Barrier - Zombies attempt to enter the playable area via windows and other openings. These entrances are initially boarded up with wooden planks but are quickly destroyed by zombies. The player can interact with damaged barriers to repair them.
  • Debris - Initially, the map will be sectioned off by debris and doors, blocking the players from the other parts of the map. Players can spend points to clear debris and doors, giving access to the other sections of the map.
  • Wall Weapon - A variety of weapons can be found on the walls of the map, encased in a transparent white substance that gives off a faint glow. They can be found on the walls at different locations on the map. The player can interact with a wall weapon to purchase the weapon. If they already have the weapon in one of their slots, they can instead interact with the wall weapon to refill their ammunition reserves at half the original cost.
  • Mystery Box - A long wooden crate branded with large question marks can be found on the map, emitting a yellow glow. It contains a large pool of random weapons. The player can interact with the box to open it for 950 points. The box will present the with a random weapon and the player can interact with the box again to take the chosen weapon. If the player gets the Joker instead, the box will be moved to another location on the map and the player gets their initial 950 points refunded.
  • Perk Machine - These powered utilities come in the form of different beverages glowing vending machines that dispense special beverages. The player can interact with them to purchase and drink the specific beverage and gain their perks. These are powered utilities, requiring the power to be activated before they can be used.
  • Pack-a-Punch - A powered utility that requires multiple steps to access and activate. Once active, the machine gives off a light blue glow. The player can interact with the machine to upgrade their weapons for 5000 points. The Pack-a-Punch machine is a powered utility, requiring the power to be activated before it can be used.
  • Power Switch - The power switch is an industrial switch on a large electrical break board with dials and meters. The player can interact with the power switch to start the electrical generators and restore power to the map. This activates the power and allows the players to use the powered utilities on the map.

Trivia[]

  • Barriers and the power switch are the only utilities that do not cost any points to use. In fact, repairing barriers rewards the player with points instead.
