"Down but not out!"

A player is in a downed state when they are knocked to the ground upon reaching 0 health. While downed, a player will slowly bleed out over the course of 45 seconds. After which, the player will die, unless revived by another player.

Without Juggernog equipped, a player gets downed in three zombie hits. With Juggernog equipped, a player gets downed in five zombie hits. Upon getting downed, the player will lose all their perks. If they have a weapon in their third weapon slot through the Mule Kick perk, they will completely lose their third weapon as well when losing the perk.

While downed, players have access to a pistol and can stab zombies with the Knife. Downed players can move, but restricted to a very slow crawl at 30% movement speed. Downed players cannot sprint and will not lunge when performing melee attacks.

Downed players cannot interact or use Utilities. For example, they are unable to perform actions such as purchasing wall weapons or repairing barriers.

As they wait for revival, the player‘s screen will start to lose color and fade to black and white. The screen will eventually turn red and become blurry moments before their death.

Downed players appear to be sitting on the ground. A large "REVIVE" message is displayed above downed players to be easily located. This text starts white and slowly turns red as the player bleeds out. This text is visible through walls.

If the player the last survivor, the game ends once they is downed, as there is no one else to revive them.

Revival[]

Other players can interact with a downed player to revive them.

The revive process takes 3 seconds. If the player performing the revive has the Quick Revive perk, this is halved to 1.5 seconds. While performing the revive, the player loses access to their weapons and has restricted mobility at 25% base movement speed.

The downed player will have their movement further restricted to 10% movement speed while getting revived to prevent them from crawling out of range during the process.

While getting revived, the bleed out timer is paused. As such, a downed player will not die while in the process of being revived.

The revive process can be canceled if the player providing aid stops interacting. If the players move too far apart, the revive will also be canceled.

Once a downed player is revived, their health is returned to full and they stand back up on their feet. They will regain normal access to the weapons still in their inventory.

Downed Weapons[]

While downed, players can continue to fight using a limited pool of weapons, namely pistols. If a player has a weapon that can be used while downed in their inventory, the player will automatically swap to it upon being downed.

Once downed, the player will be unable to swap between weapons. If the player has multiple weapons that can be used while downed, the player will prioritize using Wonder Weapons over handguns and prioritize upgraded weapons.

If they player does not have a weapon that can be used while in the downed state, the player will instead equip a back-up Beretta M9. This temporary Beretta M9 will be empty with two spare magazines of ammunition, for a total of 16 bullets. As such, the player will have to reload upon equipping their Beretta M9 before they can start shooting. If the player is revived, they will swap back to a weapon in their inventory and lose access to this temporary Beretta M9.
