"Semi-auto sniper rifle. Good fire rate. Aim for the head." ― Description
The Dragunov SVU is a Russian semi-automatic sniper rifle. It can only be acquired through the Mystery Box.
The Dragunov SVU is a relatively low damage sniper rifle that posses a high rate of fire. It is capable of killing zombies with one shot to the head up to and including round 28 with Double Tap Root Beer. While it does not deal as much damage as other snipers per shot, the Dragunov SVU is most notable for its high rate of semi-automatic fire.
Because of the weapon's relatively high rate of fire, the weapon is very forgiving as there is very little delay between follow up shots. Missed shots can be quickly corrected with another with better aim. In practice, the Dragunov SVU can be fired again by the time the player recenters their sights from the recoil of the previous shot. In addition, using the weapon even after it loses its one-shot potential is not nearly as detrimental as other sniper rifles that possess slower fire rates.
The high rate of fire means that the Dragunov SVU is also better suited for tackling several foes at once. The weapon is capable of quickly delivering successive and precise shots to the heads of multiple zombies. This means that the Dragunov SVU is slightly less vulnerable to getting overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
Overall, the Dragunov SVU is a very forgiving sniper rifle, trading raw damage per shot for greater ease of use and reliability. Missed shots can quickly be corrected and its high fire rate allows for multiple foes to be quickly taken down. However, its lower base damage means that the weapon loses its ability to one-shot kill earlier than other weapons of its class.

Weapon Upgrade[]
When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the Dragunov SVU becomes the Gaze of the Dragon.
With the Multi Headshot Module, the upgraded weapon rechambers one round from the ammunition reserves to the magazine when the player strikes the heads of two zombies with a single shot. This is achieved through bullet penetration as the shot travels through the head of the first zombie and hits the head of another. When a round is rechambered, a message will be displayed and the player will hear a rechambering sound. The bullet rechambering will not trigger if the player has no more rounds in reserve.
Hitting more than two headshots with a bullet will not cause more rounds to be rechambered. If the player hip fires with Double Tap Root Beer and both bullets hit separate heads, then a round will be rechambered. However, hitting the same head twice with both bullets from Double Tap Root Beer will not count.
In addition to rechambering bullets, the Gaze of the Dragon gains a large increase to its base damage and has increased damage multipliers to the torso and limbs. It is capable of killing zombies with a single shot to the head up to and including round 40 with Double Tap Root Beer. The weapon also has a larger maximum ammunition reserve.
