The FAMAE SAF is an Chilean three-round burst submachine gun. It can only be acquired through the Mystery Box.

The weapon deals very high damage per bullet up close. In addition, it has a very high rate of fire. This means that the weapon deals a great amount of damage rapidly within each burst. The weapon retains its one-burst kill potential on zombies for a decent amount of time.

However, the high damage bursts are gated by a relatively long burst delay at 0.25s between bursts. Factoring in the burst delay, the FAMAE SAF has a relatively slow overall rate of fire for a submachine gun.

Pros & Cons[]

Pros:

High maximum damage for its class.
Very fast fire rate within each burst.
Powerful bursts of damage.
Lightweight nature allows for unhindered mobility.

Lower overall rate of fire due to burst delay.
Has to be acquired through chance from the Mystery Box.

Weapon Upgrade[]

When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the FAMAE SAF becomes Saccharine Smile.

With the False Pretense Module, the upgraded weapon fires in 4-round bursts. Hitting a headshot will grant the False Pretense buff. Firing the next burst will consume the buff, empowering all four shots of the next burst to deal 180% damage. Gaining the False Pretense buff will completely reset the burst delay for the next burst, meaning it can be fired off instantly after the current burst is complete.

The False Pretense will only last for 5 seconds. If it is not consumed by firing off an empowered burst within this time, then the increased damage will be lost.

In addition to the empowering bursts on headshot, Saccharine Smile gains increased base damage and a higher base headshot multiplier. The upgraded weapon also gains increased magazine capacity and a larger maximum ammunition reserve.

Trivia[]

The base weapon model of the FAMAE SAF was built by logitech101.
The weapon in-game is listed to feed .40 S&W while in real life the original FAMAE SAF fires 9×19mm Parabellum.
- Taurus produces a licensed variant of the FAMAE SAF in .40 S&W as the Taurus MT-40 for Brazilian law enforcement.
- The in-game model uses 9×19mm Parabellum FAMAE SAF magazines, which as made from plastic with the protruding lugs and slots that allow multiple magazines to be clipped together, as opposed to the .40 S&W magazines which are made from steel.
FAMAE is the name of the weapon's manufacturer.
- FAMAE is short for Fábricas y Maestranzas del Ejército in Spanish, meaning "Factories and Workshops of the Army".
When the last round of the magazine is fired from the FAMAE SAF, the bolt is held open and the bolt release button is visibly engaged.
The FAMAE SAF was added in the FAMAE SAF Update on August 2, 2024.
