"Pump-action shotgun. Good accuracy. Reliable." ― Description
The Remington 870 is an American pump-action shotgun. It is available as a wall weapon for 1500 points.
The Remington 870 is a high damage shotgun that is capable of one-shotting zombies. With Double Tap Root Beer, the weapon maintains its one-shot potential up to and including round 19. Upon reaching round 23, the weapon will start to take at least three shots to kill a zombie at full health.
The weapon is pump-action, meaning that the player will have to wait until it the next shell is rechambered before they can shoot again. This results in a very low rate of fire and limits the overall damage output of the Remington 870.
The Remington 870 is loaded by inserting one shell at a time into the shotgun. As such, the weapon can take a long time to fully reload when empty. If needed, this process can be interrupted early before the Remington 870 reaches full capacity.
Aiming down the sights of the Remington 870 will tighten the pellet spread, allowing the player to slightly extend its effective range.
Similarly to other shotguns, the Remington 870 is rendered virtually useless at further ranges. Its pellets will not do any damage at distances beyond their maximum range. As such, the Remington 870 is locked to close quarters use only.
Overall, the Remington 870 is a powerful shotgun that is capable of one-shotting zombies up close and can be reliably obtained off the wall. However, the weapon loses much of its effect upon hitting round 20, where it no longer one-shots.

Weapon Upgrade[]
When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the Remington 870 becomes the Mortal Reminder.
With the Slug Shot Module, the upgraded weapon compresses its damage into a single slug instead of firing pellets and extends the range of the weapon. The slug shot has medium penetration, as opposed to the low penetrative capabilities of pellets. The slug retains a small amount of spread when aiming down sights.
However, the slug shot still vanishes beyond its effective range, similarly to shotgun pellets. This renders the weapon completely ineffective beyond its maximum range, despite its improved aim down sight accuracy.
In addition, the weapon reloads two shells for each shell inserted. This effectively doubles the rate at which the weapon can be reloaded.
Beyond the benefits of the slug shot and faster reload, the Mortal Reminder also has its magazine capacity increased along with a slightly higher maximum ammunition capacity. The weapon also gains an increased headshot damage multiplier.
With the upgraded damage profile and Double Tap Root Beer, the Mortal Reminder is capable of killing zombies with a single shot to the head up to and including round 33. After which, the weapon is able to kill in two shots to the head up until round 42.
