The SCAR-HAMR is a Belgian fully-automatic light machine gun. It can only be acquired through the Mystery Box.

The weapon makes up for its relatively small magazine size for its class with a quicker reload time. While its per shot recoil is noticeable, it is controllable in given the weapon's moderate fire rate.

The weapon dulls out a respectable amount of damage per shot and can tear into crowds of zombies with its high bullet penetration.

Because if its drum magazines, the weapon reloads relatively quickly for a light machine gun, almost matching that of assault rifles. Each magazine holds a decent amount of ammunition, but is relatively smaller than some other light machine guns on offer.

Overall, the SCAR-HAMR is a powerful light machine gun that can dull out damage with its controllable rate of fire. The weapon is very effective at hammering apart larger groups of zombies. However, the relatively smaller magazine size means that reloads will be more frequent in comparison to other light machine guns.

Weapon Upgrade

When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the SCAR-HAMR becomes the Sledgehammer.

With the Battle Scars Module, the upgraded weapon fires 150% faster for the first 7 rounds each time the trigger is pressed.

In addition to the bonus fire rate, the Sledgehammer gains an increase to its damage. The upgraded weapon also gains a larger magazine capacity with a very large maximum ammunition reserve.

  • SCAR stands for Special operations forces Combat Assault Rifle.
    • The variant featured in-game is the HAMR which stands for Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle.
    • The HAMR in real life automatically switches between from closed to open bolt operation as the barrel heats up.
    • The change in fire rate with the Pack-a-Punch module references this function of the original weapon.
  • The name of the upgraded weapon "Sledgehammer" is a play on HAMR as the weapon name is commonly pronounced "hammer".
  • When reloading, magazine catch of the SCAR-HAMR visually functions as the magazine is removed and as fresh magazine is inserted into the weapon.
