"Semi-auto carbine. High accuracy." ― Description

The SKS is a Soviet semi-automatic carbine. It is available as a wall weapon for 500 points.

It costs the same amount as the other starting room weapons and acts as the long-ranged alternative to the Ranger.

The semi-automatic nature of the SKS allows for well-placed shots at a distance. It has a respective damage profile and headshot multiplier. In early rounds, it can effectively kill zombies with several shots to the head.

However, the starting weapons that specialize in closer ranged engagements can outshine the SKS up close, where the semi-automatic fire of the weapon can prove unwieldy.

One unique characteristic of the SKS is that its reload is faster when empty. This is because the player needs to open the bolt to insert the stripper clip when performing a tactical reload. During an empty reload, the bolt is already locked open from firing the final round and the player directly inserts the clip.

The SKS has a very similar stat line and an identical damage profile to the M14, the semi-automatic rifle located in the other starting room. However, the SKS boasts a faster reload when empty.

Overall, the SKS is valuable as a long-ranged starter weapon that is most effective in the earlier stages of the game.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Increasingly ineffective after the early rounds and will need to be replaced.

Weapon Upgrade[]

When upgraded via the Pack-a-Punch machine, the SKS becomes the Surgeon's Knife.

With the Steady Hand Module, the upgraded weapon gains 75% reduced recoil when aiming down sights. Weapon kick is also reduced by 50% when aiming.

In addition to the recoil reduction when aiming, the Surgeon's Knife gains increased base damage and increased damage multipliers for head and body shots. The upgraded weapon also has its magazine capacity doubled with a larger maximum ammunition reserve.

  • The base weapon model of the SKS is built by Roblox user FoozletheGreat235.
  • The SKS is the only assault rifle where performing an empty reload is faster than a tactical reload.
    • The other weapons that share this trait are the belt-fed light machine guns, the M249 SAW and the RPD.
  • In real life, the internal magazine of the SKS can hold 10 rounds as opposed to the 8 rounds in-game.
  • SKS stands for Samozaryadny Karabin sistemy Simonova in Russian, which translates to "Self-loading Carbine of the Simonov system".
  • The name of the upgraded weapon "Surgeon's Knife" may be a reference to the location of the wall buy on Graduation, near the nurse's office.
  • When firing the final round of the magazine, the bolt of the SKS is locked open, speeding up the reload.
